It is so important that we stop seeing poverty through the prism of food and recognise that every family has the right to a decent income that enables them to afford ALL the things they need. Poverty won’t be solved by food handouts; it’ll be solved by boosting household income. Every food bank handout, however well intentioned, is a sign of a failed system. Hunger and poverty have effects in and of themselves. Loneliness, isolation, fear, anxiety, diet related poor health. We need to repair communities as we also find ways to redress poverty. That’s what we’re about and that’s what we are trying to do.
IT’S TIME TO TACKLE POVERTY AT IT’S ROOT CAUSE
It’s time to tackle poverty at its root cause – and stop relying on “sticking plaster solutions”. To be clear when children go hungry… it is NOT a food problem, it’s a poverty problem and poverty, so often imagined solely as an urban affliction, in West Lindsey it thrives, though often hidden, amid the small market towns and rolling green villages
Feeding Gainsborough is a food union set up by Eudaimonia and Bread & Roses Community Pantry. There is an obvious link between a food union and a food bank, but food unions are set up in the hope that people will not reach a point where they need to go to a food bank for emergency supplies.

FOOD & SUPPORT
OUR FAMILY NETWORKS DELIVER FOOD AND SUPPORT DAILY THROUGH OUR COMMUNITY FOOD CHAMPIONS
Feeding Gainsborough’s Family Networks are delivering food and support daily via our established Community Food Champions. This approach enables us to respond better and quicker to identified community need. The project also enables us to support more people through our regular food deliveries to local schools, churches and independent living units.
The 5 organisations we support with mini pantries are: Benjamin Adlard School, Mercers Wood Academy, Gainsborough Nursery School, Gainsborough Adventure Playground (GAPA) and The Foyer – Longhurst Group.
We also support weekly with food: St. Georges School / Parish Church Community Cafe / Newlands Court – ACIS / Queens Court – Anchor Housing / Phoenix Court – Longhurst Group / Parish Church and the Gainsborough Baptist Church.
Free Food Points 7 days a week. Community Fridge & Freezer – ready meals.
