FEEDING GAINSBOROUGH

Feeding Gainsborough delivers food and support services throughout the local area on a daily basis via our established partners within the food union and experienced support team.

.

Feeding Gainsborough believe it is so important that we stop seeing poverty through the prism of food and recognise that every family has the right to a decent income that enables them to afford ALL the things they need. Poverty won’t be solved by food handouts; it’ll be solved by boosting household income. Feeding Gainsborough believes that every food bank handout, however well intentioned, is a sign of a failed system.

Hunger and poverty have effects in and of themselves. Loneliness, isolation, fear, anxiety, diet related poor health. We need to repair communities as we also find ways to redress poverty. We are trying to do this.

It’s time to tackle poverty at its root cause – and stop relying on “sticking plaster solutions”. To be clear when children go hungry… it is NOT a food problem, it’s a poverty problem and poverty, so often imagined solely as an urban affliction, in West Lindsey it thrives, though often hidden, amid the small market towns and rolling green villages.

Feeding Gainsborough collects surplus food from local supermarkets, businesses and growers and re-distribute it to those most in need. This food is allocated via established partners within the food union across Gainsborough and surrounding villages for tables and support.

Our support starts with where you are at and works with you to develop practical and effective ways forward to address your identified need, keeping you in control of your own journey. We can assist with benefit applications, housing, domestic violence, mental health, disability, families, addiction and much, much more.
